Let the Colgate toothpaste jokes begin. Four Colgate alumni are at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (L to R): Dr. David Appleby ’70, professor of clinical restorative dentistry; Amanda Dontino ’22, first-year dental student; Yuqi (Maya) Cao ’18, fourth-year dental student; and Dr. Sean Meehan ’88, chief dental officer and assistant dean, professor of clinical oral medicine. Meehan just retired from the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, and when he was appointed to his position at UPenn, he learned of the other Colgate alumni there. Meanwhile, Dontino met Meehan at her White Coat Ceremony in her first week at Penn. During this ceremony, when the incoming class members are bestowed with their white coats, Meehan presented Dontino with hers and told her that he’d also graduated from Colgate. She later met Appleby when she was wearing a Colgate sweatshirt and ran into him in the hallway, where they discussed their fondest memories of alma mater.
