Colgate Hello

Autumn 2022

Several generations of alumni have grown up spending summers at a small Adirondack lake. In all, 13 people from this little community have graduated from Colgate, and two are currently enrolled. Pictured: Carlyn Johnson ’26, Robert Johnson ’94, Kelly Johnson ’94, Dave Fuller ’81, Allen “Skip” Merriam ’78, Nick Johnson ’24, and AlexaMoynihan ’22.

The Alumni of Color (AOC)organization held a weekend-long event in Washington, D.C., this summer, which started off with a cookout at the home of Justin Jackson ’78, chair of the AOC reunion committee. More than 60 alumni and approximately 40 family members attended the cookout, including Gary Ross ’77, the Jones and Wood Family Vice President for admission and financial aid. Live music was provided by the jazz ensemble of retired federal judge Rob Gordon ’78; and Heart & Soul Magazine CEO Clarence Brown ’76 entertained as DJ when the band wasn’t performing.

The Colgate tradition of saying “hello” to others on campus can be extended to a friendly greeting wherever people from the University community meet. Here, alumni send us their pictorial “hellos” while sporting their pride for alma mater.
