Fresh produce from Colgate’s own garden available at the Coop

With midterms rapidly approaching, here are some events happening around campus next week that are worth taking a study break for.

On Wednesday, October 1, the Office of Off-Campus Study will hold a Study Group Fair in the Ho Atrium from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The event is a great opportunity to get an idea of the wide range of Colgate study groups available from Wollongong, Australia, to Kyoto, Japan.

Study group directors and participants from previous years will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have before deciding to apply.

Then on Thursday, the Community Farm Stand will be in the Coop again from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The fresh produce from the Colgate Community Garden is available for purchase every Thursday, either with with cash or your ‘Gate Card, so make sure  to stop by!

Friday marks the opening night of This is Not a Play About Sex.  Written by Christina Liu ’13, the play uses a variety of monologues to capture the different dynamics and feelings that stem from an individual’s sexuality, different gender identities, and forms of sexual expression.

The play is both produced and performed by students, and additions have been made to the play this year in an attempt to accurately capture the feelings and experiences of students on campus today.

The play starts at 7 p.m. at Brehmer Theater,  and will show on Saturday and Sunday as well.

The women’s volleyball team has its first Patriot League home game of the season. On Friday, October 3, the Raiders will take on Navy at 7 p.m. at Cotterell Court, followed by a match against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The men’s ice hockey team will host an exhibition match against Queens (Ontario) at Starr Rink on Saturday at 7 p.m. In both ECAC’s preseason polls, Colgate was selected as the team most likely to take the ECAC Hockey regular season title after an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament, and a 20-win season last year.  Come watch the start of what it looks like will be an exciting season!
