Colgate to play Lehigh in ‘classic’ lacrosse title game

The stage is set for a classic men’s college lacrosse showdown, as No. 11 Colgate will face No. 9 Lehigh at 3 p.m. Sunday at Andy Kerr Stadium for the Patriot League Tournament title and an automatic berth to next month’s NCAA Tournament.

That is according to The Post-Standard newspaper, which reported on the top-seeded Raiders’ (12-2) victory over Bucknell by a 14-9 score Friday. Second-seeded Lehigh (13-2) downed third-seeded Army 13-7 in the second game.

Colgate defeated Lehigh 11-10 in overtime on April 7 in Hamilton, so Sunday’s title game should be a thriller, according to reporter Dave Rahme.

Colgate junior attackman Peter Baum set the tournament single-game record with nine points on five goals – tying a tournament record in that department – and four assists against the Bison (9-7), a team the Raiders had defeated by a goal a week earlier to earn the right to be host site of the tournament.
