Colgate Announces End of the Season Team Awards

HAMILTON, N.Y.’ Colgate head field hockey coach Cathy Foto has announced the end of the season awards.

Sophomore Ashley Schneider (Linfield, Pa.), a second team All-Patriot League selection was chosen as the team’s outstanding offensive player. Schneider started all 17 games and finished the season with a career-high eight goals for 16 points. She also had two game winning goals, including the game winner at Syracuse.

The outstanding defensive player award went to senior goalkeeper Sara Corcoran (Orange, Conn.). Also a second team All-Patriot League selection, Corcoran led the league in saves with 180 and saves per game with 11.25. She recorded two shutouts against Lehigh and Syracuse.

The team’s outstanding midfielder was sophomore Courtney Collins (Yorktown, N.Y.). Collins started every game for the second year in a row and tallied three assists on the season. She was also an integral part of Colgate’s penalty corner unit.

Sophomore Natalie Heller (Chadds Ford, Pa.) was the recipient of the team’s  most improved player award. After playing in just 10 games last season, Heller started all 17 games at midfield and finished the season with one goal and one assist for three points. She scored her first collegiate goal at Siena.

The team spirit award went to senior co-captain Devon Graham (Mendham, N.J.). Sidelined with a knee injury this season, Graham provided a spark from the sidelines and scored on a penalty stroke in the 3-0 win over Lehigh.

The Raiders finished the season with a 6-11 overall mark and 2-4 in league action.
