Colgate Travels To Drexel After Final Exam Break

Hamilton, NY — The Colgate Raiders (3-5) will return to action on Monday, Dec. 23, when they travel to Drexel University in Philadelphia for a non-conference game.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

Colgate, which has dropped two straight games, will be returning from a 10-day final exam break.  Drexel is 3-4 after losing Saturday night at Niagara, 88-72.

The Raiders make their first appearance on Drexel’s home floor while seeking their first road win of the season.  They are 0-3 away from Cotterell Court.

This is the fourth meeting between Colgate and Drexel with the Dragons winning all three previous meetings.  The last time these two non-conference opponents played was during the 1988 Naismith Classic in Springfield, Mass., with Drexel edging the Raiders, 59-56.

Colgate’s last outing was a 76-71 loss to Harvard on Dec. 13.  Junior center Howard Blue had his first double-double of the season with an 18-point, 12-rebound effort for the Raiders.  He is Colgate’s leading scorer with 14.5 points per game and leading rebounder with 7.3 caroms per outing.

Blue is one of four Colgate players averaging in double figures for the highest scoring team in the Patriot League.  The Raiders are scoring 74.2 points per outing and grabbing a league-high 39.9 rebounds per game.

Other Colgate players in double figures are Dave Hardy (10.6), Andrew Zidar (10.1) and Mark Linebaugh (10.1).

In the latest Patriot League statistics, Blue was tied for fifth in scoring, third in rebounding, sixth in field goal percentage (.508) and fourth in free throw percentage (.741).

Also in the Top 10 is Zidar in rebounding (9th), Tim Sullivan in field goal percentage (9th) and 3-point field goal percentage (7th), Hardy in assists (5th), Linebaugh in assists (7th) and Alvin Reed in 3-point field goal percentage (4th).
