The ALANA Cultural Center and the Mosaic Initiative are excited to share several Lunar New Year Programs with you. Students and faculty have been working to create virtual events to share the diversity of Lunar New Year experiences and celebrations around the world.
Portions of the 2021 ALANA and Mosaic Present: Lunar New Year Event Series were made possible by a generous gift to the Cutaia Family President’s Discretionary Fund For Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Gio ’94 and Maree Cutaia in support of Mosaic programs.

A Look into Lunar New Year

Join students, faculty, and alumni as they reflect upon their family and community Lunar New Year celebrations.
Vietnamese Lantern Making
Wednesday, February 10 | 5:00 p.m. ET
Student leaders Alex Tran ’22 and Flora Zhang ’22 will demonstrate how to make Vietnamese lanterns. Materials list provided in confirmation email.
Chinese Calligraphy
Wednesday, February 10 | 6:00 p.m. ET
Chinese language intern Abby Hsu will lead a Chinese Calligraphy lesson in which attendees will learn how to write Chinese characters. Suggested materials list provided in confirmation email.
Dumpling Making
Wednesday, February 10 | 7:00 p.m. ET
Professor Yang Song will lead participants through two different dumpling recipes. Ingredients list provided in confirmation email.
Japanese Calligraphy
Friday, February 12 | 4:00 p.m. ET
Professor Yukari Hirata will lead a Japanese Calligraphy lesson in which attendees will learn how to write Japanese characters. Suggested materials list provided in confirmation email.
Lantern Release
Friday, February 12 | 5:00 p.m. ET
