Identity and cultural heritage are prominent motifs in the mixed-media pieces of artist Scherezade Garcia, whose exhibition It’s So Sunny That It’s Dark ran September 6 through October 8 in Little Hall’s Clifford Gallery.

In early September, Garcia spent a few days on campus, to celebrate the exhibition opening, deliver a lecture, and conduct a workshop.

Aspects of Garcia’s visit were supported by many campus departments and programs, including Africana and Latin American studies, art and art history, peace and conflict studies, political science, sociology, theater, women’s studies, Colgate Arts Council, Core Communities and Identities and Challenges of Modernity, the Sio Chair for Diversity and Community, Dean of Faculty, and the arts and humanities and social sciences divisions.
