Niranjan Davray, associate vice president for information technology services at Kenyon College, has been named chief information officer at Colgate University, effective Aug. 1, 2019.

Davray began his tenure at Kenyon in 2003 as a network and security analyst, rising to director of enterprise infrastructure and then director of information technology services. At Colgate, Davray will guide an effective and sustainable technology program, deploying and maintaining solutions that enhance teaching, faculty research, and administration. He will be charged with improving the overall operational effectiveness and efficiency of the University by leveraging technology.

“Today, the success of Colgate’s academic enterprise hinges on the successful and collaborative use of technology, whether it be in classrooms, laboratories, or administrative offices,” said Provost and Dean of the Faculty Tracey Hucks ’87, MA’90. “Niranjan brings the experience that this institution needs in order to apply these resources to their best advantage.”

Developing security strategies and providing IT services, Davray has built a track record of managing costs, making business cases, and planning resources while improving relationships, building consensus, and securing positive outcomes for projects across campus. A member of Kenyon’s diversity and inclusion team, he promoted diverse hiring practices and adjusted systems to include chosen names and pronouns.

Beyond his work at Kenyon, Davray is an active member of the nonprofit association Educause, serving as a member of its Security Assessment Working Group within the Higher Education Information Security Council and sitting on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Leading Change Institute’s Class of 2014.

“It is a tremendous honor to get an opportunity to be part of a world class institution, known for its distinguished faculty and passionate community that inspires students to change the world for the better,” Davray said. “I look forward to collaborating with campus leaders at Colgate University to enable the vision and strategic direction that is laid out in the Third-Century Plan.”
