Zadie Smith, who has been included on Granta’s list of 20 best young authors, came to campus last fall as part of the university’s Living Writers course. She was one of 10 acclaimed authors who held a lively literary discussion with students and later conducted a reading that was available for the public to attend in person or online.
Earlier this year, a who’s who of entrepreneurs, including investor/actor Ashton Kutcher and eBay president John Donahoe, came to campus to vet student projects and discuss innovation in the marketplace.
In 2013, Hillary Rodham Clinton, former Mexico President Felipe Calderón, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, and former U.S. Rep. Ron Paul visited campus.
These popular events often inspire follow-up discussions where a robust exchange of ideas and viewpoints add to the classroom dialogue that happens year-round.
