Campus security committee reports findings to President Herbst

Back to All Stories

Colgate’s Advisory Committee on Campus Security has found that for the 2011-12 year Colgate complies with the relevant sections of Article 129-A of the New York State Education Law.

The committee consists of faculty, staff, and students from across the university, and is charged with assessing Colgate’s legal security compliance and making recommendations to President Jeffrey Herbst regarding how the campus can be made more secure.

The committee’s report to Herbst summarizes its research and findings for the past year, and is now publicly available for review by all members of the campus community.

Its most significant recommendation was that there is a need for Colgate to improve nighttime lighting in several campus locations. The committee outlines improvements the university can make to enhance the security and perception of security in these locations.
