Hamilton – Ginna Marston of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America will give a lecture titled ‘Does pop culture influence drug attitudes’ Drugs, teens, and the media’ on Wednesday, March 24, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 209, Lathrop Hall at Colgate University.
Marston’s lecture will examine myths and misconceptions surrounding drug use and pop culture influences among American teens. The positive influence mass media can have on the nation’s drug problem will also be explored, and Marston will discuss what media leaders can do to shift attitudes away from those of normalization.
‘It is easy for pundits to demonize TV, movies, music lyrics and the Internet as the cause of America’s drug problem,’
