Richard T Cunniff ’45, March 23, 2014. Delta Upsilon, Board of Trustees, Maroon Citation 1995, Maroon Council, Reunion Program Committee. US Navy, WWII. Harvard Business School: MBA. He worked for Kidder, Peabody & Co., Keswick Corp., MacKay-Shields LCC, and Andresen & Co before he co-founded the Sequoia Fund. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, a sister, 4 children including daughter Jeanne Foussard ’82, son-in-law Phil Foussard ’82, and 4 grandchildren including Daniel Foussard ’16.

Harold F Heim ’45, March 12, 2014. Lambda Chi Alpha, class editor. US Army, WWII. Initially employed by General Foods, he then had a long career with Campbell Soup Company. He is survived by his sister, 2 daughters, 3 grandsons, a great-grandson, and great-nephew Casey Geloneck ’05.

Thomas B O’Reilly ’48, November 23, 2013. Phi Kappa Tau, International Relations Council, Washington, DC, Study Group. US Navy, WWII; Naval Air Medal and a commendation by President Truman. He had a long career in sales, developing the Sierra typewriter and marketing it in the United States before retiring as president of JUKI USA. He is survived by his wife, Lillian, 8 children, 20 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

John Rudy ’48, April 5, 2014. Football. US Marine Corps. He worked as a credit manager for Ryerson Steel Co and Amerada Hess Corporation. He is survived by 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren.

Michael T Biondo ’49, March 23, 2014. Sigma Chi. US Army, Korean War. He worked for the St Regis Paper Company for 31 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet. He is survived by 2 sisters, 3 daughters, a son, 7 granddaughters, and 7 nieces and nephews.

Stanley Caple ’49, March 20, 2012. Sigma Chi, Outing Club, swimming. US Army. He worked as a broker for Kings Point Realty Inc. He is survived by 2 daughters.

James A Cormack ’49, December 10, 2013. Sigma Nu. Following his work with Johnson & Johnson, he worked as a staff consultant for the business school at the University of Tampa. He was predeceased by his first wife, Peggy. He is survived by his second wife, Mary Anne, a son, a daughter, and grandchildren.

Frederic A Stone ’49, April 11, 2014. Lambda Chi Alpha, Delta Phi Alpha, Colgate Thirteen, marching band, pep band. US Air Force, Army Air Corps, WWII; Distinguished Flying Cross. University of Rochester Medical School: MD. He served with the Apollo space program as a re-entry recovery physician and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. Following his work with the space program, he went into private practice. He was predeceased by his wife, Nella. He is survived by 5 sons, 5 daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a sister, a sister-in-law, and nieces and nephews including Chuck ’77.

Peter A Darling ’50, March 19, 2014. Phi Gamma Delta, soccer, chorus. US Air Force. He had a long career with Scott Paper Co. He is survived by his wife, Odila, 2 sons, a daughter, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and 5 grandchildren.

Ernest R Braun III ’51, April 6, 2014. Delta Kappa Epsilon. He worked in marketing and sales for Ritus Rubber Corp. He was predeceased by his wife, Suzanne, father Ernie ’21, and uncle Howard ’31. He is survived by 3 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, 9 grandchildren, and cousin H William ’56.

John J Droescher Jr ’51, July 11, 2013. Alpha Tau Omega, ROTC, Maroon, Konosioni, Colgate Thirteen, swimming, chorus, cheer team. George Washington University: MD. He was a practicing physician for Harvard Van Guard Medical Associates. He is survived by his wife, Anne.

Judson W Hill ’51, MA’51, April 27, 2008. Commons Club. US Army. Cornell University: PhD. He worked as a professor of sociology at Slippery Rock State College (PA). He is survived by his wife, Martha.

Sheldon F Storrier ’51, April 23, 2014. Phi Gamma Delta, football, hockey, Maroon Council, Presidents’ Club Class Chair. He was a longtime general manager at WKTV News Channel 2 (Utica, NY), where he worked for almost 30 years. The New Hartford Chamber of Commerce created the Sheldon F. Storrier Communications Scholarship for one New Hartford High School graduating student. He was a founder of the New York State Broadcasters Association. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, a son, and a daughter.

Richard H Stearns ’54, April 4, 2014. Lambda Chi Alpha, ROTC, tennis, marching band, pep band, chorus. US Air Force. Princeton Theological Seminary: MDiv. He served the Presbyterian Church as a reverend for nearly 40 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor. He is survived by a sister, 2 daughters, 2 sons, and 6 grandchildren.

Nicholas Davis ’55, April 17, 2014. Sigma Chi, WRCU, ROTC, Maroon Key, student government. US Air Force. Beginning his career at Cascade Paper Company, he then worked for the Ford/Malcom Insurance Company. Following a 25-year career with the RH Lord Company, he retired in 1996. He was predeceased by his son Kirk ’81. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, 2 sons and daughters-in-law, 10 grandchildren, a sister, and nieces and nephews.

Lawrence H Humphrey ’57, April 19, 2014. Phi Kappa Psi, Outing Club, chorus. He was employed by Weyerhaeuser Company before building his company Humphrey Lumber. He is survived by his wife, Natalie, 2 brothers, 2 daughters, 2 sons, and 10 grandchildren.

Kenneth M Janis ’60, August 4, 2013. Phi Beta Kappa, Maroon Key, Maroon, Konosioni, swimming. New York University: MD. He was a professor of anesthesiology at the University of New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Judy; his brother, Mark Janis ’66; a son; and a daughter.

Edward R Abel ’61, January 1, 2014. Phi Delta Theta, Konosioni, Maroon Key, baseball, football, student government. US Navy, Vietnam War. After his service in the Navy, he played professional baseball for the Chicago Cubs farm team. He then worked as a product engineer for Inland Motor of Radford, and as a regional manager of Kollmorgen Corp. He is survived by his wife, Anne, 3 brothers, 2 sisters-in-law, 2 daughters, a son, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, 7 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

David G Allen ’62, April 19, 2014. Theta Chi, rifle team. He worked many years for Northwestern Mutual Insurance followed by Mass Mutual Life Insurance and the Principal Financial Group in Syracuse. He is survived by his wife, Mary, 2 daughters, 2 sons, a step-daughter, 9 grandchildren, a brother, 3 sisters, 3 sisters-in-law, his former wife, and cousin Bill Allen ’57.

Jeffrey H Bogart ’64, December 1, 2012. Alpha Tau Omega, Glee Club, chorus. Columbia University: LLB. He worked for many years as an attorney at Dummit, Buchholz & Trapp. He is survived by his wife, Yoshiko.

Ann L Williams MA’68, April 16, 2014. She worked as a physical education teacher for the Utica School District, as a fourth grade teacher at New York Mills, and then as a clinical psychologist for Marcy Psychiatric Center before going into private practice. She was predeceased by her 3 sisters and 4 brothers. She is survived by 2 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Jeffrey R Winslow ’68, February 15, 2014. Tau Kappa Epsilon, rugby, indoor track, Alumni Memorial Scholar, Salmagundi, Outing Club, marching band. He had a long career working with GE, Berkshire Bank, and Berkshire County Realty. He also opened a store, Wild Sage, in Pittsfield, Mass. He is survived by his father, 6 siblings, 5 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, great-nephews, and a great-niece.

Gerald J O’Leary ’73,  July 6, 2014. Iona College, MBA.  He was retired after a long career in banking, most recently as manager of trusts and investments with Wachovia National Bank. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Diana, 2 sons, sister Kathleen ’75, several cousins, and a granddaughter.

Robert N Shure ’73, August 16, 2010. He was the president of Clo-Shure Inc. He is survived by his wife, Floreen, brothers Pete ’71 and Gary ’77, and 2 sons.

David T Cooney MA’79, March 31, 2014. Florida State University: PhD. He worked as a director of testing at Polk State College (FL). He is survived by his wife, Susan.

David H Alvord ’80, July 8, 2014. Phi Gamma Delta, class editor. He worked for the Oneida (NY) Public Library for more than 15 years. He also wrote a weekly history column for The Oneida Daily Dispatch since 1988 and served as the Oneida city historian since 1994. He is survived by his mother, 2 brothers, and a sister-in-law.

Rashard J Raigns ’04, June 4, 2014. China Study Group, Alumni of Color, football. He served as the area manager and aquatics training director for the University of the District of Columbia and Winkler Pools. He is survived by his parents, 4 sisters, and nieces and nephews.

H George Henry, June 22, 2014. He joined the Colgate faculty as an associate professor of economics and director of the Urban and African-American Studies Program and the Caribbean Studies Program. He was promoted to full professor in 1981. He directed the economics study group in London in 1982. Henry served as director of affirmative action 1985­–88. Before coming to Colgate, Henry was a visiting professor at Pius XII College in Basutoland, South Africa, in an international exchange program sponsored by the U.S. State Department, 1962­–63, and taught at Lincoln University 1964–66 and Lowell Institute of Technology 1966–68. From 1968–69 he was a senior economist and deputy director, Central Planning Unit, Government of Jamaica. His wife, Alma, predeceased him. He is survived by 3 daughters, 1 sister, 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
