David Case '80 plays guitar at Good Nature in Hamilton

Dave “Ace” Case ’80

Dave “Ace” Case ’80 savored “Every Moment” as he played that original — and other songs — with his band The Gully Hubbards at Good Nature Brewery in Hamilton on October 11.

The last time Case played in Hamilton was the summer of 2010 when he and his old bandmates/classmates reconvened their campus group 151 at reunion. Reliving their college band glory was Case on guitar and vocals; Jim Goldenberg ’80 on bass and vocals; Mike White ’80 on guitar and vocals; Steve Lesniak ’80 on guitar, keys, and vocals; Doug Watt ’80 on drums; and Mark Diorio ’80 on keyboards.

“Returning to Hamilton and to campus is always a moving experience,” said Case, who has been a professional guitarist and performer for more than 20 years. “I generally have a lump in my throat from about the time I drive through Earlville until the time I drive back south past the hospital.”

Case poured his emotions into the October gig, during which he and his Gully Hubbards bandmates rocked out with Americana-style songs from their 2014 EP Day Dawns Clear — as well as cover tunes, including old beer jingles in honor of the brewery setting. Formed in Jersey City in 2011, the band also includes James Dower (vocals, bass), Carolyn Light (vocals, banjo), and Andy Sapko (drums). Check out their sound on gullyhubbards.com.
