COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –
Colgate men's track and field junior Oliver Moe (Bronx, New York) has been named to the United States Olympic Committee's Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere (FLAME) program.

The USOC's FLAME program provides diverse college and graduate-level students with a unique look into the world of elite sport.

"I'm really proud and honored to be selected to participate in the FLAME program," Moe said. "It's always great to represent Colgate, and I'm eager to do so at such a prestigious organization like the U.S. Olympic Committee.

"It'll be a great opportunity to develop my knowledge of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, as well as a chance to create connections which will help me moving forward!"

Moe is the first Colgate student-athlete to be accepted into the FLAME program after going through the application process and receiving his acceptance. A junior at Colgate, Moe is a double major in Peace and Conflict Studies as well as Asian Studies.

He has excelled in the classroom as he was named to the 2016-17 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and is a three-time Raider Academic Honor Roll Recipient.

Accepted students into the eight-day FLAME program engage in a rigorous curriculum designed to increate knowledge of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic movements as well as participate in personal and professional development workshops. It is an intersectional program that encourages students of color of all sexual orientations, abilities, genders and gender identities, and income levels to apply.

Throughout the program, students meet and network with USOC executives as well as learn about goal setting, leadership and self-motivation from U.S. Olympians and Paralympians. Students also engage in workshops on race, class, ability, gender and sexual orientation to foster inclusive, high-performing sport environments.

The 2018 FLAME program runs from May 30 through June 6 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Earlier this school year, Moe traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum which was created to engage a diverse and dynamic representation of student-athletes, coaches, faculty and administrators. He was one of two student-athletes from the Patriot League to attend the leadership forum.

On the track, Moe has had a solid indoor and outdoor season. He recorded a first-place finish in the 500-Meter Dash at the Robert Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell on January 27 with a time of 1:05.54. In the outdoor season, Moe finished third at Lafayette's 8-Way Invitational in the 400-Meter Dash with a time of 50.83 seconds before improving on that time to 49.95 seconds at Moravian's Coach P. Invitational on April 13-14.

Moe and the men's track and field team have two more meets this season before the Patriot League Championships on May 4-5. The Raiders travel to Princeton, New Jersey this weekend for the Larry Ellis Invite on Saturday and close out the regular season at Cornell's Big Red Invite on Sunday, April 29.
