This Torch Medal is given to Padma Kaimal, Batza Professor of Art and Art History, by Jason Rand ’07.

Torch Medals honor a Colgate faculty or staff member who made a meaningful impact on an alum during their time at Colgate. Alumni in the reunion classes of 2007 and 2012 are invited to give a Torch Medal, delivered virtually, to a present or past member of the faculty or staff. “Padma taught my Core: India class and led me on Colgate’s inaugural London Art & Art History program. She sparked my passion for travel and learning about the world, inspiring me to approach exploring new places with a great deal of curiosity and with a creative eye. Her enthusiasm inside the classroom was infectious, but more than that, she became a friend, and her presence is one of the things that I look so fondly on when I think about my time at Colgate. When I visit Colgate now, I always look forward to catching up with her. ”
