President Barack Obama’s brief visit to Jamaica this week included time to chat with three excited students in the Colgate Jamaica Study Group.

Stephanie Rameau ’15, a peace and conflict studies major from Ballston Spa, N.Y., Muturi Njeri ’15, a psychology major from Kenya, and Dlorean Lemon-Riggs ’16, a natural sciences major from New York, N.Y., were invited to meet President Obama while he visited the University of West Indies for a town hall meeting during his visit to the country on Thursday.

“It was such an amazing moment. The entire event was really phenomenal,” said Rameau. “When I asked him what advice he could give to a soon-to-be university graduate, he responded, ‘Find something you love to do and make that your job.’”

The trio also met the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, and Miss Jamaica 2014 and 2010.

Lemon-Riggs said, “It was a truly memorable experience.”
