Colgate’s football team is hosting a 6-year-old cancer survivor in an effort to raise money for research.  The Raiders’ chapter of Uplifting Athletes will celebrate Colin Hayward and his family this afternoon for a team practice session at Andy Kerr Stadium.

Hayward is a survivor of the rare cerebro-spinal cancer Ependymoma (ah-pen-dah-MO’-ma), a disease in which malignant cancer cells form in the tissues of the brain and spinal cord.

Colgate’s Uplifting Athletes chapter has raised money for the past eight years to help find a cure for this disease, and this year the group decided to host an Ependymoma Awareness Game. Colin and his family will be attending the Bucknell-Colgate game at Andy Kerr Stadium on November 2.
