Police continue to investigate an incident at a university event early Saturday morning that resulted in injuries to a student and a recent alumnus. The student, whose name has not been released due to privacy policies, is at an area hospital and was reported in stable condition as of Saturday afternoon. The alumnus was treated and released. Both men had been stabbed.

The event, which was attended by about 300 people from campus and the surrounding area, was a non-alcoholic party held at Parker Commons, a campus-owned apartment complex.

Campus safety officials provided this account:

A fight broke out among a small group, and others stepped in to break it up. Additional campus safety officers were called at 2:30 a.m., and local police agencies also responded as more individuals became involved.

The event was shut down and participants were asked to leave the area. Officials said several minor skirmishes happened outside, but the situation was quickly brought under control.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact campus safety at 315-228-7333.
