ALANA fashion show makes hard work worthwhile

Back to All Stories

mhernandez1.jpgI had one of my largest accomplishments this past week! I finally held my first ALANA event for the semester.

As I mentioned before, I have been working on a cultural fashion show the entire semester with fellow ambassador Mi Seung Kim ’13.

This event took a tremendous amount of planning, and a whole lot of teamwork. We collaborated with WeFunk, and the show turned out to be a great success. We also gathered money for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.

Overall, the event was a perfect combination of fun, education, and philanthropy. I suppose the months of spring are truly the months of giving.

I am also preparing for my trip to China that is quickly approaching. This trip is going to be a blast, and I can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to go on a trip like this as a first-year.

This weekend is Spring Party Weekend, and there were a ton of musical events on campus. There also was the ever-popular DanceFest at the Chapel and the Insomniac Party with Dj Drama.

Today I will be hosting another prospective student. I love having the chance to show someone a day in the life of Colgate.  This will be a very special chance too, seeing as the prospie will be a potential Benton Scholar.

I hope I will be able to show them how great of a program the Benton Scholar Program really is!

(I’ve been asked to write each week about what life is like as a first-year student here at Colgate. Until next time!)
