Commencement set for Sunday in field house

Back to All Stories

Members of the Class of 2009 will walk into Sanford Field House on Sunday as seniors and walk out as alumni after taking part in Colgate’s 188th commencement exercises.
Geoffrey Canada, nationally recognized for his pioneering work helping children and families in Harlem and as a passionate advocate for education reform, will deliver the keynote address.

The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are required for admittance to the field house, and guests need to be seated by 10 a.m.
For those without tickets, several locations on campus will offer live video streaming of the ceremony.
The rooms, which open at 8 a.m., are Golden Auditorium in Little Hall; the Hall of Presidents in James C. Colgate Hall; and Brehmer Theater in the Dana Arts Center. (See the campus map for more information.)
Area residents can watch the ceremony on Time Warner Cable, Channel 99. Restaurants in Hamilton plan on showing the ceremony on cable TV, as well.
The ceremony also will be webcast in its entirety and Twitter users can access the university’s page for continuous updates throughout the day.
The commencement website has additional information, along with a special Google map that shows where many seniors are going after graduation and what their plans are. The map includes video profiles and photos.
