Senior class gift to launch environmental fund

The Class of 2008’s “green” gift to the university was the subject of an article in The Post-Standard.(Syracuse)
The class has raised about $23,000 to launch a fund that will help the college reduce energy use. About 94 percent of the senior class has made donations.


The Environmental Sustainability Fund will be used for, among other things, summer internships, guest speakers, and improvements to forests owned by Colgate.
Colgate’s board of trustees will contribute $23,000 to the fund, which will be overseen by a committee that will include a member of the senior class. (Click here for more Colgate in the News items.)

profilemap.jpgColgate’s seniors will take part in commencement ceremonies at 1:30 p.m. May 18. Lesley Stahl, an award-winning correspondent for CBS News’ 60 Minutes and author of Reporting Live, will deliver the keynote address.
Those seniors who have finalized plans for after graduation are taking part in an interactive map that shows where they will be and what they will be doing after leaving Colgate.
A Google application was modified for the online map, which continues to grow as more seniors finalize plans and which will soon feature video profiles of eight members of the graduating class.
