Hamilton, NY — Head Coach Scott Wiley and the women’s ice hockey program have announced the appointment of Josh Liegl as assistant coach.  Liegl was the assistant coach at Division I Findlay University the past two seasons, before the program dropped hockey following the 2003-04 campaign.

Liegl replaces former assistant Meghan Maguire who moved to Boston to pursue a career as a teacher.

‘I am very pleased to have Josh on our staff for 2004-05, being a goalie coach he adds another dimension to our teachings,’ remarked Wiley.  ‘His experience at Findlay in a Division I setting will be a valuable commodity here at Colgate.’

During his time at Findlay, Liegl coordinated all recruiting efforts in the United States and Canada.  He analyzed video for opponent scouting and instructed and developed goaltenders through game practice and video.

While at Findlay, the Oilers increased their win total in both seasons, the power-play was ranked fourth nationally in ’03-04, and the team’s goals against average dropped from 2.90 to 2.43.

Prior to his time at Findlay, Liegl was the assistant coach at American International College for one season.  From 1996-2001 he was the assistant coach at L.P. Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

A 2000 graduate of Marian College, Liegl was a four year letterwinner and an all-MHCA goaltender selection in his final two seasons.  He served as a team captain in his final two seasons and was team MVP from 1996-98.
