Women’s Lacrosse Wins 10-8 Thriller Over St. Bonaventure

Hamilton, NY — The Colgate women’s lacrosse team picked up a thrilling 10-8 victory over the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure on Tuesday afternoon at Tyler‘s Field.  Sue Bielamowicz made 15 saves and Amanda Bradshaw scored four goals including the game-winner for the Raiders.

 

The Bonnies came out on fire to gain a 3-1 advantage thanks to two goals from Katie Hurley and one from Kelly Chevez, while the Raiders received a goal from Amanda Bradshaw.

 

Katie McVeigh’s 32nd goal of the season moved the Raiders within one at the mark of the first half.  Following another Hurley goal, Colgate scored three straight to take its first lead of the game at 5-4.  McVeigh and Bradshaw scored goals around Kelly Winning for the Raiders.

 

The Bonnies scored a free position goal at the mark to tie the score at five headed to halftime.

 

St. Bonaventure regained the lead at 24:36 of the second half on a goal by Courtney Gibbons, but Colgate took back control with two straight goals from Heidi Ross and Winning.

 

After two St. Bonaventure goals, Colgate scored the final three goals of the game to earn the 10-8 victory.

 

The Raiders are now 9-4 for the campaign.  Colgate returns to Patriot League action on Saturday, April 17, when the Raiders host Lehigh at
