Women’s Track and Field Places Fourth at the Class of ’32 Invitational

HAMILTON, N.Y. ‘ The Colgate women’s track and field team took fourth at the Class of ’32 Invitational in Colgate’s own Sanford Field House this Saturday.  The Raiders compiled 87 points and were edged out of third by St. Lawrence with 87.50 points.  SUNY Cortland finished second with 128 points and Albany took top honors with 247 points.

 

Lisa Germain (Queensbury, N.Y.) took first in the long jump with a leap of 18’00.50 (5.50 meters).  Germain also took third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.54 seconds. Shannon O’Hagan (Sarnia, Ont.) finished first in the high jump with a mark of 5’02.50.  She was joined by Emily Thomson (Billerica, Mass.) in sixth with a leap of 4’11.75 and Nolana Quince (Syracuse, N.Y.) in ninth jumping 4’09.75 (1.47 meters).

 

Quince also took third in the triple jump with a leap of 35’02.00 (10.72 meters) and ninth in the 55 meter hurdles in 9.28 seconds.  Joining Germain in the 55 meter dash finals was sophomore Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick (Royersford, Pa.) who finished ninth in 7.87 seconds.   Fitzpatrick also competed in the 200 meter dash where she finished 12th in 29.09 seconds.

 

Freshman Mary Pratt (Basking Ridge, N.J.) was sixth in the 500 meter run in 1:22.82.  Elizabeth Crowley (West Simsbury, Conn.) and Colleen Rice (Liverpool, N.Y.) placed third and sixth respectively in the 800 meter run with times of 2:23.75 and 2:25.23.

Nicole Christoforo (Rockland, Mass.) was third in the 1,000 meter run in 3:03.12.  Teammate Macrina Seals (Pennellville, N.Y.) was close behind in fifth with a time of 3:08.21. 

 

Freshman Danielle Whicher (North Reading, Mass.) was second in the mile run in 5:08.47 and Lia Cross (Skaneateles, N.Y.) was sixth in 5:28.26.  Hannah Failing took silver in the 3,000 meter run in 10:47.15 and Rachel Pettengill (Sudbury, Mass.) was eighth in 11:41.00.

 

Other teams competing in the meet were Hartwick, New York University, Oneonta, Union, and Hamilton. The Raiders are back in action next weekend as they head to BostonUniversity for the St. Valentine’s Invitational.  The meet kicks off at on Fri., Feb. 13.
