Men’s Hockey Heads To Albany For Two Games At Union and Rensselaer

HAMILTON, N.Y.The Colgate University men’s ice hockey team travels to Albany this weekend to take on Union and Rensselaer in its final regular season road trip.

Colgate (16-9-5, 11-5-2) is coming off a split with Yale and Princeton last weekend at Starr Rink. The Raiders dropped the first game 3-1 as the Bulldogs scored two shorthanded goals and Joe Zappala netted his nation-leading ninth game winner of the season. Colgate rebounded the next night with a 4-2 win as senior Kyle Doyle (Sarnia, Ont.) scored two second period goals. It was Coglate’s first series sweep of the Tigers since the 1991-92 season.

Colgate leads the overall series with Union 26-11-1 but the Dutchmen lead the series in Schenectady 9-8-1. Union has won the last four meetings at Achilles Arena dating back to the 1998-99 season. Colgate’s last win at Union was on February 26, 1999 by a 4-3 score.

Rensselaer leads the overall series with the Raiders by a 53-40-2 margin and also leads the series at Houston Field House 31-15.
