Chapel to host traditional service of lessons and carols

A Christmas candlelight service of lessons and carols will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Colgate University Memorial Chapel.

Musical guests include the Colgate Chorus, led by director Kelly Hudson, the Sojourners Gospel Choir, and Professor Christopher Vecsey, Charles A. Dana Professor of the humanities.

Marion Christie Amico, the university organist, will perform an organ recital at 7 that will include the works of Buxtehude, Bach, Messiaen and Rawsthorne. The traditional service of lessons and carols will begin at 7:30, with a reception in the Chapel’s garden level at 9.

The program is sponsored by the Office of the Chaplains and the Christian communities of Colgate University.

Contributions of new and used clothing and an offering of money for the Blantyre North Relief Project in southern Malawi will be gratefully accepted.

The Blantyre North Relief Project assists children who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. Blantyre is a Christian relief organization which offers assistance to children in need without regard to religious affiliation.
