Hamilton, NY — The Colgate women’s soccer team finished its regular season with a 3-1 pasting of Lafayette on Saturday, November 1.  The Raiders finish the year at 5-1-1 in the Patriot League and as the number three seed in the Patriot League Tournament.  Colgate will battle Navy at 1:30 p.m., while host American takes on Army at 11 a.m.

During the regular season, Colgate went 3-1 against opponents in this year’s tournament.  The Raiders dropped a 1-0 decision at Navy on September 28th.  Colgate’s leading scorer Kate Barrett was out for that match after receiving a red card in her previous game.  Navy got a first-half goal from Kate Huppmann and held on for the victory.  Colgate defeated both American and Army by two goals during the regular season.

Kate Barrett (Troy, N.Y.) leads the charge for the Raiders offense with 17 goals and nine assists for a league-high 43 points.  Her 17 goals is also a league-high, along with her six game-winning tallies.  Sophomores Kelly Kuss (Warners, N.Y.) and Carolyn Warhaftig (Wyckoff, N.J.) have provided a good scoring punch as well.  Kuss is second on the team with 11 goals, seven assists and 29 points, while Warhaftig has scored seven times and has 17 points.

Luisa Miller (Washington, D.C.) anchors the defense in net for Colgate.  She finished the year with an 8-6-1 record, a league-best 1.01 goals against average and four shutouts.

Colgate has never lost to Navy in postseason play, going 5-0, including three defeats in the Patriot League Championship.  The last time the two teams met in postseason play on November 4, 2000, the Raiders defeated Navy 2-1.
