POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Colgate women’s hockey team snapped its two-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Clarkson Golden Knights on Friday evening.  Senior Caitlin Hornyak (Norwalk, Conn.) tallied the game-winning score from Avery McGlenn (Coaldale, Alb.) and Kristy MacDonald (Cobourg, Ont.) with 6:52 to play to give Colgate the win.

Colgate found itself down 1-0 in the second period when Lindsey Williams scored off a pass from Jill Nolan at the 14:26 mark.

Sophomore Allison Paiano (Orleans, Ont.) tied the score with her ninth goal of the season coming at 17:08 of the second stanza.  Becky Irvine (Halifax, N.S.) and Maura Kehoe (Ottawa, Ont.) recorded the assists.  For Irvine, it was her team leading 14th point this season.

That set up Hornyak’s game-winning goal at the 13:08 mark of the third period. It is Hornyak’s first tally of the season and 22nd of her career.  She also increased her own school record for career games played with 107.

Rebecca Lahar (Vienna, Va.) earned her seventh victory of the season by making 20 saves and helping Colgate kill both Golden Knight power-plays.  Colgate finished 0-3 with the extra attacker.

The Raiders, now 10-4-1 overall and 3-0 in conference, host ECAC rival Cornell on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.  The Raiders defeated the Big Red 2-0 at Lynah Rink earlier this season.
