Golf Ties for Fourth at the ECAC Championship

HAMILTON, N.Y.The Colgate University golf team tied for fourth out of 14 teams at the ECAC Championships Sunday at Seven Oaks Golf Course. The Raiders finished with a team score of 309.

The tournament was pushed back to Sunday as a result of poor weather conditions on Saturday.

Binghamton won the tournament with a combined score of 298. Hartford came in second with a team score of 307 while Boston College was one shot behind with a score of 308. Colgate, Dartmouth and Rider tied for fourth with a score of 309 and the University of Connecticut came in seventh with a 311. Seton Hall was eighth with a 312 while Harvard placed ninth with a 313. Long Island and St. Francis tied for 10th with scores of 315 and Lafayette and Mt. St. Mary’s tied for 12th with 320s. Brown rounded out the field with a score of 325.

Individually, Keith Hendrickson of Binghamton took medalist honors after shooting a round of 70 for two under par. Mike Murphy of UConn was the only other golfer under par as he shot a 71.

Charlie Sahlman led the Raiders with a Top-10 finish as he tied for sixth with a 75. David Held tied for 13th with a round of 76 and Dave Policano tied for 27th with a round of 78. Sean Cusick tied for 39th with a score of 80. Mike Chase rounded out the Raiders with a share of 53rd and a score of 82.
 
Colgate is next in action on Saturday, Oct. 11 and Sunday, Oct. 12 at Lehigh.
