Four Raiders Named to ECAC All-Academic Team

Senior captain Steve Silversides was honored for the third consecutive year.

ALBANY, N.Y. Four Colgate University men’s ice hockey players have been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s 2003 all-Academic Team.

Senior captain Steve Silversides (Thunder Bay, Ont.), and sophomores Justin Spencer (Tweed, Ont.), Dave Thomas (East Petersburg, Pa.) and Dmitry Yashin (Kanata, Ont.) were among 69 student-athletes named to the team.

Silversides, an International Relations major, is one of 14 players in the league to be recognized three times.

Players are eligible for the all-Academic team if they have completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and have competed in at least one-half of his team’s games during the current season (goaltenders must have played in at least 33 percent of the team’s minutes.
