‘Nostalgia starts to bite into my head…’

Back to All Stories

I was going through week-old e-mails this morning when I came across one from my friend Matt that I still hadn’t replied to. He graduated last year.

‘Hey Jess: I admit that I’m riotously jealous over how much snow you have at school this winter. Nostalgia starts to bite into my head every once in a while, especially when you mention trudging up the hill for your creative writing class. I usually never left the hill on those days. I’d just hang out, trying, trying, I tell you, to open a book. I don’t want to think about it too much though, because I do miss those days. Hope things are still good. Drop me another line when you get the chance.’

I smiled, but couldn’t help feeling a twinge of sadness. Because not only did I miss having Matt around on campus, I knew I’d be writing those same e-mails to my friends in just a few months.
