Colgate To Embark On 3,332 Mile Road Trip; First Stop Is Albany

Hamilton, NY — The Colgate University basketball team will embark upon its longest road trip of the season beginning Thursday night with its visit to the University at Albany.  Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. at Recreation & Convocation Center.

Colgate (4-6) will be playing three games in six days on a trip that covers 3,332 miles as the Raiders attempt to win their first road game of the season.  Following the Albany (2-7) game, the Raiders fly to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a battle with Oral Roberts University on Jan. 4, before returning East to tangle with Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. on Jan. 7.

This will be the 14th meeting between Colgate and Albany with the Raiders leading the overall series, 12-1.  In the last meeting two years ago, Colgate edged past the Great Danes, 66-58, at the Recreation & Convocation Center.

Colgate snapped a three-game losing streak on Monday night with a 92-51 win over Hartwick College.  Howard Blue, who has been the leading scorer in three of the last five games, paced Colgate with a season-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds.  Freshman Alvin Reed and senior Dave Hardy added 11 points apiece for the Raiders.

Albany dropped its third straight game on Monday night losing to Lafayette College, 83-75.  Antione Johnson and Rhasheed Peterson paced the Great Danes with 21 and 20 points, respectively.

Blue is Colgate’s leading scorer with 14.5 points per game and leading rebounder with 7.1 caroms per outing.  Other top scorers for the Raiders are Hardy (10.8), Mark Linebaugh (9.6), Andrew Zidar (9.3) and Tim Sullivan (8.2).  Colgate is averaging 74.0 points per game, while yielding 69.8.

Albany is led by Jamar Wilson with 16.6 points per game followed by Johnson (14.6), Levi Levine (12.7) and Peterson (11.8).
