Colgate drops second game to Wayne State 2-1

DETROIT, MI – After winning its season opener over Wayne State the Colgate women’s hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Warriors Saturday night.

Wayne State scored the game’s first two goal in the first period.  Heidi Burns scored at 7:38 off an assist from Katie Jones.  Kim Spaulding scored ten minutes later off a pass from Kelly Zamora giving Wayne State a 2-0 lead after one period of play.

Colgate would get within one goal at 9:16 of the third when Cheryl Setchell scored off passes from Kristin Cirbus and Amanda Barre cutting the lead to one.

Colgate outshot Wayne State 23-22 and was 1-4 on the power play.  The Raiders once again shut down the Warrior power play as Wayne State went 0-4. 
Colgate has now killed all seven power plays on the season.

Rebecca Lahar made 20 saves in net for the Raiders.

Colgate now 1-1 is in action again next weekend at Findlay on Saturday at 4 p.m.
