LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell freshman Chris Cara tallied three goals and four assists to lead the Bison to a 15-6 Patriot League victory over Colgate Saturday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.

Bucknell established the lead early, holding a 9-1 advantage at halftime en route to the victory.  The Bison hold a 4-1 Patriot League record this season and are 5-6 overall while the Raiders fall to 2-3 in league play and 5-6 on the season.

The Bison jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with Cara leading the way, earning one of his goals and two of his assists on extra-man opportunities.

Scott Herbst (Short Hills, N.J.) got Colgate on the board in the second half with his goal, assisted by Chris Michaels (Pennington, N.J.).  But the rest of the second half would be all Bucknell as the Bison went on to score the next six goals before halftime.

The Raiders came out of the break firing, tallying the first two goals of the half.  Joe Parker (Crofton, Md.) tallied on of his two goals on the day and Michael’s added the second to bring the score to 9-3.  Bucknell would add three more goals before Colgate got on the board again with Herbst’s second goal at 1:06 in the third.

Colgate made an attempt pull the game within reach again in the fourth period with two quick goals from Parker and Nick Gerken (Wilton, Conn.) but Bucknell would earn the victory with three more goals in the fourth for the 15-6 win.

Chris Hettler (Liverpool, N.Y.) tallied 14 saves while Bucknell’s Justin Sussman made 14 stops to earn the victory.

The Raiders return home next Saturday, April 20 to host Patriot League opponent Lehigh at Tyler’s Field.  Face-off is set for 2:00, immediately following the women’s lacrosse match up with Lafayette.
