Hamilton, NY — Daniel Little, chancellor and professor of philosophy at University of Michigan-Dearborn, will present a lecture at Colgate University titled ‘Development Ethics: Justice, Well-Being, and Poverty in the Developing World’ on Wednesday, February 27, at 4:30 p.m. Little’s visit is sponsored by Colgate’s Center for Ethics and World Societies, is free and open to the public, and will take place in the Ho Lecture Room, 105 Lawrence Hall.
Little, who is former associate dean of the faculty and professor of philosophy at Colgate, where he worked from 1979 to 1996, is also faculty associate at the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research. His books include The Scientific Marx, Understanding Peasant China, Varieties of Social Explanation, On the Reliability of Economic Models, and Microfoundations, Method, and Causation: Essays in the Philosophy of the Social Sciences. He is currently writing a book titled Development Ethics, a discussion of some of the issues raised by processes of economic development in the developing world.
In its fourth year, Colgate’s Center for Ethics and World Societies devotes each academic year to the exploration of a single theme of great urgency in the international realm.
