Hamilton, NY — A concert of South Indian music featuring musicians Geetha Ramanathan Bennett, veena and voice, Frank Bennett, mrdangan, and Rusty Gillette, ghatam, will take place at Colgate University on Tuesday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Brehmer Theater, Dana Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public and is co-sponsored by the Fund for the Study of the Great Religions of the World, Department of Music, the Division of Humanities and the Department of Philosophy and Religion.
Geetha Ramanathan Bennett has performed extensively worldwide, as well as on the soundtrack of the Imax film Everest. Her husband, Frank Bennett, a percussionist who has performed with renowned singers Sri K.V. Narayanaswami, Smt. Jayalakshmi Santanam, and Dr. S. Ramanathan, is also a composer, arranger, and orchestrator with several Hollywood credits. Gillette has appeared as a featured performer at world music festivals and conferences and has performed with T. Viswanathan, T. Ranganathan, John Higgins, L. Subramaniam, and Trichy Sankaran.
