Hamilton, NY — Poet Colette Inez will give a reading from her work as part of Colgate University’s Spring Poetry Series on Thursday, April 20, at 4:30 p.m. in the Ho Lecture Room, Lawrence Hall. The reading is free and open to the public.
Inez, who is Colgate’s visiting poet-in-residence this year, is author of eight books of poetry, including her first, The Woman Who Loved Worms (Carnegie Mellon University Press, 1991), and, most recently, Clemency (Carnegie Mellon University Press, 1998). More than 1,000 of her poems have appeared in scores of literary and mass media publications including The Nation, Yankee, New York Times, American Poetry Review, Exquisite Corpse, and New Republic. Recipient of a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship (1985-85), two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships (1974, 1988), two Pushcart Prizes (1986, 1998) and numerous other awards, Inez has been an associate professor in Columbia University’s Writing Program since 1983.
